一般雾化液体(油或水)都采用压力雾化喷嘴(离心喷嘴)。当液体流量太大时(或液体粘性过大时),由于离心喷嘴喷口尺寸增加,喷嘴出口液膜增加,造成液体雾化质量恶化,液珠的索太尔平均直径(dS,m)急剧增加。为了在液体流量较大时,得到理想雾化质量,可以采用压缩空气(或蒸气)作为雾化剂,来改善雾化质量。雾化剂压力一般在013~015MPa,例如Y型喷嘴,内混式喷嘴和外混式喷嘴等。由于Y型、内混式和外混式喷嘴,仅利用雾化剂的气动能来雾化液体,因而所需雾化剂量较大,为了得到理想的液珠平均直径,一般雾化剂占被雾化液体质量的30%~60%。
超声波雾化喷嘴,不仅利用雾化剂的气动能,更主要依赖于超声波能来雾化液体[1],因此,不但可以降低雾化剂的用量,而且可以进一步改善雾化质量。
